Nigel Guy joins The Cornhill Partnership as non-executive chairman, tasked with securing long term equity value

1st October 2011

Nigel Guy has been appointed as non-executive chairman of The Cornhill Partnership Limited, parent company of Archer Mathieson, as well as our sister companies: BIE Interim Executive, Correlate Search and Euromedica.

Cornhill chief executive Rob Walker says he spent 15 months finding the right person for what he sees as a critical appointment:

“We took our time to find someone with real, heavy-hitting business experience; a chairman who could bring a fresh viewpoint from outside the recruitment sector. Nigel Guy fits that description perfectly. I’ve known him since my time at Walker Hamill, some twenty years ago. His role is to be a ‘critical friend’, to constructively challenge our leadership team, to take a longer view of what the business will look like in the medium term and help us do what’s required to get there.”

Guy has worked extensively with private equity-backed companies over 20 years. He spent 13 years in leadership positions with 3i plc, and later became deputy managing director of Baird Capital Partners Europe Limited. He currently holds board positions in a number of businesses with significant financial stakeholders, including private equity investors. In this respect, he is non-executive chairman of Northern Investors Company PLC and FRP Advisory LLP, a non-executive director of CLVC Group Limited. He is also a board member of the Corporate Finance Faculty of the ICAEW.

Commenting on his latest role, Guy said:

“Cornhill operates in a dynamic market and the businesses all have strong growth ambitions. My role is to bring independent thought to the board and support the executive team to achieve both their growth plans and stakeholder management activities. In today’s business environment, it can be difficult for leaders to step back from the plate and work, not just on building the strategic value of each firm, but also that of the combined offering. Part of my role is to facilitate that, so that all stakeholders across the Cornhill group can achieve long term equity value.”

The Cornhill Partnership was created in 2010 out of Hexagon Human Capital PLC after Rob Walker, a co-founder of Walker Hamill and a senior figure in the executive recruitment sector, led a Barclays Ventures-backed management buy-out.
